The Shopify authentication app refers to apps used to enable two-factor authentication (2FA) for added security on your Shopify account. One of the most commonly used is the Shopify-supported authenticator app, like Google Authenticator, Authy, or Microsoft Authenticator.
These apps generate time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) that are required in addition to your Shopify email and password when logging in—making it much harder for unauthorized users to access your account.
